What can I say but, yep, right in the middle of the televised Obama speech I felt an urge to turn to this, which I was initially turned onto by the unlikeliest source-Guru Master Lou. Is it the finest greatest hit compilation evuh? A newly discovered Bukowski gem? David Mamet's shortest and most brilliant play? If you don't gobble it up in one full sitting you are indeed a pussy, and forever denied entry into the club:

That was a relentless masterpiece, an obscene Phillip Glass-like work.
The intriquing part is that, while watching, one can't but stop and attempt to put the finger on the master of obscenity, or at least draw up a mental list of the best (and wierdest) deliveries of the verbal spew. Tony? The most relentless user of course (he was after all the show's central figure), running the gamut from a WC Fields version to a Brando twist. Uncle Junior's sputter and stare? Christopher's braying? Paulie's contemptuousness?
Steve Buscemi's whine? Silvio's Three Stooges explosion? Carmella's
hiss? Dr. Melfi's wrathfulness? Wait, I gotta go watch it again...
The little pauses were great too- Tony on the horse in the house was my favorite - I think. Nice editing and great rythym to that piece. Sta-sta-stacatto then breathe sta-sta-sta-stacatto.
...and it's always nice to hear Melfi say fuck.
